Day 1 (Bahir Dar)

Fly to Bahirdar and visit different ancient monasteries on Lake Tana on boats, then visit the open market in downtown Bahir Dar, the Blue Nile Falls and an overnight stay at a Hotel.

Day 2 (Gonder)

Drive 185KM to Gonder enjoying the striking landscapes. In Gonder (the Capital of Ethiopia for 250 years until the mid-19th century), visit the authorities’ site to citadels, considered to be the most beautiful in Ethiopia due to the paintings on its ceilings, then stay overnight at a Hotel.

Day 3 (Lalibela)

Take a flight from Gonder to Lalibela, drive 35km from the airport to Lalibela (also known as The Blank Jerusalem) is a place magnificent churches carved out of single stones, declared as world heritages by UNESCO. King Lalibela carved the churches in the 12th century for pilgrims who could not travel to Jerusalem. The tour will then continue to the residential villages of Lalibela to allow visitors to experience the original lifestyles and cultures of the villager before going to spend the night at a hotel.

Day 4 (Axum)

Fly from Lalibela to Axum (Axum was the historical capital of the Axumite Kingdom). In Axum, visit obelisks’ sites, the church of Holy Mary Zion, the final resting place of the Ark of the Covenant, and a local museum where we can get a local feel and experience by viewing various archeological items discovered in the region before heading to an overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 5 – fly from Axum to Addis Ababa.
